Data Engineer

Assignment description

We are looking for a Senior Platform Engineer with strong hands-on Google Cloud Platform experience to strengthen a Platform & Enablement capability within Data & Analytics.

In this role, you will design, build and continuously improve cloud-based platform capabilities that support Data & Analytics teams. The assignment combines hands-on engineering with platform design, automation, security, reliability and developer enablement.

You will work extensively with Google Cloud Platform, GKE/Kubernetes and container-based workloads, as well as develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform. The role also includes contributing to CI/CD and GitOps-based delivery patterns, working with GCP networking, IAM, security and access management, and building reusable platform components that enable self-service for engineering teams.

A key part of the assignment is ensuring monitoring, logging, observability and operational reliability while supporting engineering teams in onboarding workloads to the platform. You will collaborate closely with platform engineers, data engineers, architects and security stakeholders to ensure scalable and secure platform solutions.

You will also contribute to technical standards, reusable patterns and the long-term evolution of the platform, combining operational responsibility with strategic platform development.

Qualifications:

• You have senior-level professional experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering or DevOps.
• You have several years of hands-on production experience with Google Cloud Platform.
• You operate at a senior / Level 4 level.
• You have strong practical experience with GKE and Kubernetes.
• You have strong hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
• You have experience designing or developing cloud platform foundations and landing-zone capabilities.
• You have experience with IAM, workload identity, networking and cloud security.
• You have strong experience with CI/CD and automated software and infrastructure delivery.
• You have experience with monitoring, logging and observability in cloud environments.
• You have experience supporting multiple development or engineering teams through shared platform capabilities.
• You can work independently and take technical ownership in a complex enterprise environment.
• You are comfortable taking significant technical ownership while remaining hands-on in implementation.
• You have strong communication skills in English.

Meriting:

• It is highly meriting if you have experience with GCP data services such as BigQuery, Dataflow and Pub/Sub.
• A strong plus is experience with Apache Beam.
• Experience with data ingestion and/or streaming platforms is highly meriting.
• It is also meriting if you have experience with GitOps and Helm.
• A plus is experience with Backstage or other Internal Developer Platforms.
• Experience with Python and Bash is considered an advantage.
• It is meriting if you have experience with Google Cloud networking and security services.
• A plus is experience from multi-cloud environments involving GCP together with Azure and/or AWS.
• Experience with platform engineering in regulated or security-sensitive enterprise environments is highly meriting.
• It is also meriting if you have experience with developer self-service and platform enablement.
