Assignment description 

As a Project Manager, you will play a critical role in project delivery, management and performance reporting of a Sub-Project at the client.

You will be responsible and accountable to the Project Director for the planning, schedule delivery, threat/opportunity management and coordination of all scope within a Sub-Project. You will be allocated a detailed resource loaded schedule for all scope, detailed budget and risk register for their assigned Sub-Project.

As a Project Manager you will have full responsibility for managing the cost, schedule, and performance of the Sub-Project. You will have ownership of the budget and authority to call upon and direct resources provided by functions within the project organisation.

The primary interfaces and stakeholders are the; sub-project leader with responsibility for the technical scope, the project planner, the project cost controller, the work package managers and the functional support.

Specifically, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring that realistic project and quality plans are prepared and maintained and provides regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate
  • Drive project schedule, fostering a delivery mindset with the Sub-Project.
  • Maintenance of the Control Account Plan including Planned Budgeted Cost for Work Scheduled (BCWS)
  • Verification and control of costs charged to the control account, including Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP)
  • Validation of work accomplished, schedule progress – Budgeted Cost for Work Performed (BCWP)
  • Updating Estimates to Complete (ETC) for work packages within the Sub-Project, and validating Estimates At Complete (EAC)
  • Conducting formal cost and schedule variance analysis and developing recovery plans required to recover schedule or cost variances.
  • Managing control account Risks – both threats and opportunities.
  • Development of detailed action plans should risks materialise to recover schedule/cost deviations
  • Processing CCB change requests for changes to budget, schedule or technical scope of the control account

You will have delegated authority to review and approve work assignments, documents and commitments involving the control account, including:

  • Monitoring of all control account activities through the review of work packages
  • Work scope, schedule and budget
  • Directing resources assigned to the control account effort
  • Identify potential technical, schedule and cost risks and manage them according to the program ’s Risk Management process
  • Recommendations to PD for Cash/InKind Transfers within the control account
  • Support of management of sub-contractor/In-Kind effort within the control account

Requirements for the role:

  • Ability to analyse and document specific projects’ business requirements and strategic resolution initiatives
  • Able to describe alternative problem-solving approaches and optimal uses
  • Experience of successfully managing projects and project plans – identify and track the critical path of the schedule
  • Experience managing major projects throughout the design, installation and commissioning phases
  • An experienced project professional, with a track-record of delivering change in varied environments
  • Confident working alongside stakeholders from all levels of an organisation
  • Able to utilise appropriate project management techniques (such as agile and waterfall) depending on circumstance
  • Practiced in creating and maintaining project management processes e.g., initiation, planning, executing, monitoring, risk management, change control and associated project schedules and documentation.

Formal experience:

  • Professional training in IPM, APM, XLPM or equivalent
  • Years of experience: at least 3 years
  • Computer skills: Microsoft Office and experience of managing projects in P6
  • Language: English and preferably Swedish both orally and in writing
  • Experience working as part of a centralised PMO function
