Assignment Description

Our client in the automotive industry is currently seeking an experienced, design-minded Fullstack Software Engineer with expertise in TypeScript and React to join their team and assist in building their internal developer portal using the http://Backstage.io open-source software. This internal developer portal will serve as the central hub for their internal developers, integrating infrastructure tooling, services, and developer documentation.

You will be a part of their Developer Experience organization, tasked with creating an exceptional developer experience by providing platform products that enhance the performance and productivity of their software engineers. Every software engineer and software team within their organization is considered a potential customer, and they are dedicated to understanding their customers’ needs and ensuring their success and productivity.

Responsibilities:

• Develop and maintain a set of core plugins for the Backstage app.
• Design the developer experience and lifecycle of plugins for other teams contributing to the portal.
• Ensure ease of creation, debugging, testing, release, and lifecycle management of plugins.
• Stay updated with plugin development on Backstage.
• Collaborate with an agile team to achieve OKRs (Objectives and Key Results), team objectives, and key results. Work closely with the team to enhance their development portal and provide ongoing support to users.

Qualifications:

• Strong background in web development with knowledge of principles and best practices.
• Expertise in writing clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and React.
• Experience with Git and GitHub.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Architectural mindset with a good understanding of DevOps, GitOps, and Platform Engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• At least a couple of years of experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer.
• Familiarity with http://Backstage.io is a plus.
