Assignment description 

Join our client’s new product area, the Developer Experience Platform, located in their Digital Core unit, which is on a mission to improve the developer experience and productivity for thousands of software developers within the company. The team is building a self-service platform products for building, running, and operating software components and microservices at scale with ease.

We are looking for a Senior Engineering manager to accelerate transformation, learning, tech quality and delivery within Developer Experience Platform. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing the engineering teams responsible for their product mission. You will grow and develop skilled engineering managers and software engineers who builds and provides developer tooling, cloud and container platforms to run modern microservices.

A big part of your responsibilities will be to coach other leaders and manage the transition to their new operational model with Engineering and Products Managers in a lean agile way of working. You will, together with other leads across Platform, setup how they run and build a great platform engineering organization. You will also lead one of their strategic projects within Developer Experience Platform, Universal Control Plane (UCP). The UCP project consists of a team of highly skilled GO, Kubernetes and Cloud Engineers that are building the core foundation, based on Kubernetes APIs and Crossplane, for their gitops way to create and manage platform resources.

As a Senior Engineering Manager within Developer Experience Platform, you will: 

• Hire, grow and support teams with highly qualified engineers
• Mentor and coach individual engineers and engineering managers as well as removing obstacles in their way to build platform products at scale with speed
• Build and promote a positive engineering culture in our product area and unit
• Drive and nurture collaboration, diversity, inclusion, and engagement
• Advocate and advance modern software development, operation, and engineering practices
• Be accountable for technology strategy in your domain and, together with the product managers and engineers, make sure the architecture and strategy enable the product vision
• Be overall responsible for quality of technical design, development, and deliveries

To succeed in this position, we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about building great platform products, excels at leading, developing, and empowering engineers, and believes in a lean agile culture with a focus on delivering customer value. You have a background in Software Engineering and at least 10 years of experience as a leader, manager, and manager-of-managers. Previous experience of multiple operational and agile methodologies, as well as large scale transformation initiatives within software engineering, is experience and competence we believe is needed for this position. Previous experience with leading and coaching Engineering Managers is necessary.
