Our client in the automotive industry is currently seeking a Senior Software (SW) Design Engineer specializing in Protective Safety. You will be a member of one of their Agile Scrum teams. Depending on your skills and experience, you will have the opportunity to work on various SW Design Engineering features.

Their unit, Safe Vehicle Automation, develops and delivers leading Safety and Autonomous Driving technologies. They excel in controlling the vehicle’s 6 degrees of freedom of movement in the most energy-efficient way, creating a rewarding and confident drive and ride experience. Their purpose is to develop and deliver Vehicle Motion and Control, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), Highway Pilot, and Protective Safety.

Department 96200 comprises approximately 160 skilled engineers responsible for research, advanced engineering, implementation, verification, and validation of current and future customer offerings. They hold accountability for product quality and customer response.

Our client’s Agile Release Train (ART) for Protective Safety develops and integrates systems and functionalities into complete products, encompassing software (SW), hardware (HW) – Electronic Control Units (ECU), and peripheral sensors. For Protective Safety, electronic sensors and ECUs detect, determine, and activate different devices (e.g., airbags and belts) in case of an accident, protecting occupants inside the car and pedestrians outside during a crash. Additionally, their ART is responsible for High Performance Global Navigation Satellite System (HP GNSS), a major contributor enabling Highway Pilot functionality.

What you will do

The role involves leading and planning the necessary work and reporting to management. Collaboration with other teams within the ART, as well as other Engineering Departments/ARTs, Procurement, Production, testing facilities, etc., is part of your daily responsibilities.

You will evaluate different technical solutions to ensure that vehicles meet their high safety standards. Additionally, you are expected to contribute to the new architectural SW development for their ART Protective Safety in general. The team also has overall responsibility for Integration and release management for domain crash control.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Plan, lead, and perform the necessary SW design.
  • Develop, align, and implement relevant requirements with a high focus on performance and robustness.
  • Lead technical reviews for the product when needed.
  • Align and review system interfaces.
  • Actively participate in reviews of Design Validation Methods (DVMs).

Required Qualifications:

  • M.Sc or B.Sc in mathematics, mechatronics, electronics, or physics.
  • Work experience as a senior engineer within SW development.
  • Experience in SW system design and SW requirements for High-performance computer systems.
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken).
  • Scrum/Agile knowledge.
  • Knowledge in release management is meritorious.
  • Experience within automotive development.
  • Knowledge in System/Functional Safety (ISO26262), Cyber Security is meritorious.
