Assignment Description

You will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our infrastructure for structural and fluid flow computations running on large cluster machines and several other servers. You will work on-site to monitor, maintain and troubleshoot issues related to servers and applications for engineering calculations.

Tasks

Monitor servers and applications so they are always up and running. Perform upgrades and patching of OS and applications as needed. Planning of future needs together with the analysis department and provide input to purchasing department. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to servers and applications.

License utilization monitoring, add and remove users, request and install license files. Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure efficient operation of the servers and that they are in line with the clients IT standards. Contribute to continuous improvements to tune performance and cost.

Required Skills

Thorough experience in UNIX (SLAS, OpenSUSE, AIX) server administration and maintenance for engineering computations including big clusters and queue systems.

Proficiency in Python programming and Bash scripting.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills are necessary as well as strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

English skills are needed.
