Assignment description

We are looking for an experienced Linux System Administrator with a strong focus on automation and architecture to design, build, and maintain the platform for Remote Desktop (VDI) infrastructure.

This environment offers GPU-accelerated remote desktops designed for pre- and post-processing of HPC workloads, such as automotive simulations, visualization, and rendering. Built on Rocky Linux / RHEL, it uses X11 with desktop environments like Xfce4 and integrates technologies including NICE DCV, EF Portal (EnginFrame), and SLURM to deliver high-performance, remote graphical sessions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, deploy, and maintain the Linux-based GPU-enabled Remote Desktop infrastructure (DCV/EF/SLURM/X11/Xfce4 on Rocky Linux).
  • Develop automation scripts and IaC pipelines (primarily using Ansible) for consistent rollout.
  • Ensure system security, scalability, performance, and maintainability across all deployments.
  • Collaborate with HPC and infrastructure teams.
  • Document architecture, configurations, deployment workflows, and operational procedures to ensure long-term maintainability.

Qualifications:

  • You have solid experience as a Linux System Administrator, preferably with Rocky Linux / RHEL.
  • You have strong skills in automation and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible or similar).
  • You have strong proficiency in scripting, primarily Bash (Python experience is a plus).
  • You have familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control systems (Git, GitLab).
  • You have understanding of X11, desktop environments (Xfce4, GNOME, etc.), and display protocols for remote rendering.
  • You have good knowledge of networking, security, and monitoring tools (Prometheus-based observability preferred).
  • You have a architectural mindset with the ability to design maintainable, scalable, and automated systems.
  • You have the ability to work independently and take full ownership of complex environments.

Meriting:

  • Experience with HPC environments and SLURM scheduler.
  • Experience with NICE DCV, EF Portal (EnginFrame), Open OnDemand or other remote visualization platforms.
  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Podman) and monitoring/observability.
