Assignment description

We are looking for a Mainframe COBOL Developer to join a team where the mainframe remains a core part of the platform while undergoing an important modernization journey. In this role, you will be part of a cross-functional product team working with developers, architects, Scrum Masters and Product Owners, all focused on delivering value to end customers.

The assignment involves modernizing customer master data and integrating core mainframe systems with newly acquired platforms. A key part of this work is enabling real-time connectivity between mainframe and distributed systems, using technologies such as Kafka. We are looking for a driven and collaborative developer who enjoys working in complex environments and wants to contribute to building modern, scalable solutions on top of a strong mainframe foundation.

Qualifications:

• You have at least 9 years’ experience of building and developing in mainframe/zOS.
• You have experience and good knowledge in iCobol, DB2/SQL, JCL and IDz.
• You are a curious team player, comfortable driving change, with deep interest in how technology can be used to solve different business challenges.
• You have a modern development mindset and are excited to be involved in every part of the development process, from exploration to deployment and following up the success.
• You are fluent in English, as you will be part of an English‑speaking team. Speaking a Scandinavian language is meritorious.

Nice to have:

• Working experience building Kafka integrations on mainframe is considered a big plus.
• Experience with modern tools (e.g., ReadyAPI) and agile ways of working is a strong advantage. The client is upgrading their mainframe environment and seeks consultants who can support this transformation.
