Assignment description

We are looking for an experienced Linux System Administrator with a strong focus on automation, architecture, and platform engineering to design, build, and maintain a GPU-enabled Remote Desktop (VDI) environment. The infrastructure supports remote graphical workloads related to HPC, including simulations, visualization, and rendering. The platform is based on Rocky Linux and RHEL, using X11 and Xfce4, and leverages NICE DCV, EnginFrame, and SLURM to deliver high-performance remote sessions.

In this role, you will design, deploy, and maintain the Linux-based VDI platform, ensuring stability and performance in a GPU-accelerated environment. You will develop and maintain automation and Infrastructure-as-Code, primarily using Ansible, to enable consistent and repeatable deployments. You will ensure that the platform meets requirements for security, scalability, and long-term maintainability, and collaborate closely with HPC and infrastructure engineering teams. The role also includes documenting architecture, configurations, deployment workflows, and operational procedures to support a sustainable and well-governed environment.

Qualifications:

  • You have solid experience as a Linux System Administrator, ideally on Rocky Linux or RHEL.
  • You have strong automation and IaC skills (Ansible or similar tools).
  • You have proficiency in scripting, primarily Bash; Python is a plus.
  • You have familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and version control (Git, GitLab).
  • You have an understanding of X11, desktop environments (Xfce4, GNOME) and remote rendering/display protocols.
  • You have good knowledge of networking, security, and monitoring tools (Prometheus‑based observability preferred).
  • You have architectural thinking with ability to design scalable and maintainable systems.
  • You have the ability to work independently and take ownership of complex environments.

Meriting:

  • Experience with HPC environments and SLURM workload manager.
  • Experience with NICE DCV, EnginFrame (EF Portal), Open OnDemand, or similar remote visualization platforms.
  • Familiarity with container technologies (Docker, Podman) and monitoring/observability tooling.
