Assignment description
We are looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to help build and shape a modern SRE practice in an organization undergoing a cloud-native transformation in Azure. As part of this modernization journey, you will play a key role in ensuring reliability, scalability, and operational excellence across Azure-based workloads.
You will join a development team focused on delivering a high-quality digital customer experience and take the lead in defining and evolving SRE principles, tools, and ways of working. The role combines strategic responsibility with hands-on engineering, where you collaborate closely with development teams to embed reliability, observability, and operational best practices throughout the development lifecycle.
You will take shared ownership of the operational health and performance of cloud workloads, define and implement monitoring and incident management strategies, and lead post-incident reviews to drive continuous improvement. Automation is a central part of the role, and you will streamline operational processes using scripting or development languages such as C#, Python, Node.js, or similar.
In addition, you will mentor and guide teams in SRE best practices, actively participate in and lead incident response activities, and help establish a sustainable operational model in close collaboration with stakeholders and platform teams.
Qualifications:
- You have at least five years of work experience in the information technology field.
- You have proven experience with Site Reliability Engineering, where you’ve been part of a reliability team, providing modern and state-of-the art ops together with development teams.
- You have deep knowledge of Azure cloud, its components and how to monitor, operate and troubleshoot workloads, such as Azure functions, Azure container apps, Azure app services, SQL Azure, Cosmos DB among others.
- You have a good understanding of how databases work, including SQL and NoSQL. You’ve dealt with backups and restoring operations when things have gone bad.
- You have proficiency in software development, to a degree that you can automate repetitive manual tasks, using C#, Node, Python or any suitable language.
- You have practical experience in Azure DevOps, and you know your git branching and code review processes.
- You have a good understanding of networking, especially virtual networks in Azure.
- You have practical knowledge of incident and problem management
Meriting:
- Azure certification(s)
- Understanding of distributed systems, and how microservices operate
- Kubernetes (AKS, and OpenShift)
- Familiarity with ITSM tools like ServiceNow.
You are a collaborative team player with experience from larger organizations, where you have successfully driven and coordinated positive change. You have strong communication skills and are able to build trust and alignment across a wide range of stakeholders. You are curious and forward-thinking, with the ability to define what good looks like and shape how an SRE function should operate in close collaboration with the broader development organization. You can articulate a clear target state and actively contribute to achieving it. You are also a problem-solver who thrives in challenging environments and can navigate complex systems with a calm, structured, and methodical approach.
