Assignment Description

We are looking for a Senior Data Platform Architect to shape and scale a governed self-service data platform that supports domain-owned data products. Your main responsibility will be to establish the platform architecture capability by determining the target state, governance design, integration approaches, reusable patterns, standards, and guardrails. You will provide technical guidance, support architectural decisions, and reduce reliance on external or part-time architecture support.

You will primarily work with the self-service data platform while also contributing, based on evolving priorities and business needs, to a business intelligence area responsible for centrally managed reporting, governed self-service, and solutions based on Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.

You will collaborate with technical and business stakeholders, including relevant external contacts, and work across both areas in an environment where parts of the platform are still being defined. You will document decisions clearly, create reusable approaches, share knowledge, and work transparently with priorities, backlogs, delivery plans, and agile practices. The role also requires clear communication in English and an active effort to reduce dependency on knowledge held by a single person.

Required Qualifications:

• Experience with integration patterns covering APIs, batch processing, event-based integration, change data capture, and connectivity to legacy source systems.
• Approximately eight years or more of experience with data platforms, including demonstrable ownership of architecture at platform level.
• Deep understanding of lakehouse architecture, data warehousing, data modelling, and data product patterns.
• Ability to establish standards, guardrails, and reusable patterns that delivery teams can apply.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure data platforms, or an equivalent modern cloud data platform, with a clear path for applying that experience to Microsoft Fabric.
• Proven ability to produce, explain, and defend Architecture Decision Records in discussions with senior stakeholders.
• Strong design-level understanding of governance, security, identity and access management, lineage, metadata, and operational requirements.
• Strong and demonstrable experience in data platform architecture, including ownership of scalable platform designs rather than responsibility limited to individual solutions or pipelines.

It is considered meritorious if you have experience with Databricks, Azure Data Lake, Azure Data Factory, or Azure Synapse, as well as Microsoft Purview and its capabilities for cataloguing, Data Map, lineage, and governance. Experience with Microsoft Fabric domains, workspace design, deployment pipelines, and tenant-level configuration is also advantageous. The same applies to experience with enterprise source systems such as D365 Finance and Operations, Dataverse, CORE, or comparable platforms.

It is also considered meritorious if you have experience with data mesh, domain-owned data products, or federated governance, or exposure to platform operations, observability, FinOps, and SLA or SLO design. Experience from organisational environments involving multiple entities and data-segregation requirements is advantageous. Relevant certifications, including DP-600, DP-700, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert, are also considered meritorious.
