Assignment description 

Our client in Stockholm are looking for several experienced and skilled COBOL Developers to join their development teams. As a COBOL Developer, you will have a key role in development and maintenance for systems that are critical for the success of their organization.

Right now they are in the middle of a journey to transform their IT landscape as well as digitalize the customer experience. Their core systems are vital enablers for them to succeed in this work. To be able to move even faster, they now need to expand the mainframe teams with several developers.

Exactly what you will do will depend on your previous experiences. You may either work on some of their ongoing transformation, or you may aid the team with other development and/or ongoing support to the business.

Work tasks:

• Develop and maintain COBOL-code to support their insurance systems
• Analyze and maintain existing code
• Identify and fix bugs and perform other improvements
• Participate in system design and dialogues to ensure cost-effectiveness, scalability, and security
• Work in an agile team with other developers, testers, and business analysts to ensure high quality and functionality
• Document code to enable effective maintenance and knowledge sharing

Skills and experience needed:

• Experience from COBOL development and development in large, complex systems
• Deep knowledge about relational databases and SQL/DB2
• Knowledge of JCL (Job Control Language) and IBM-mainframe environment is desirable
• Ability to analyze, troubleshoot and solve technical problems
• Great communication skills and ability to work both independently and in a team
• Patience to be able to handle both details and complex systems
• Fluent in English (Swedish a huge advantage)
• It is meriting if you have experience from developing mainframe APIs to be used by external consumers such as customer facing applications or middle layer applications
• It is meriting if you have experience from working with systems for traditional insurance or fund insurance
• Expected years of experience: Level 3 (4-8 years)
