Our client in the automotive industry is currently seeking a SCAR – Software Configuration and Release Manager, OTA.

The automotive industry is currently undergoing a significant transformation driven by changing consumer behaviors, technology shifts, and digitalization. Within the Service Operations & Technology department, our client is applying a data-driven strategy to prepare for direct consumer solutions and to transition from reactive to proactive customer interactions.

The SCAR – Software Configuration and Release Team has the primary responsibility within Software Products (SP) and Software Structure System (SSS) release to the aftermarket, enabling software purchase and download. The software can be installed in vehicles either via VIDA (traditional) or via OTA (new technology/systems). Therefore, the role places a higher focus on enabling OTA deployments due to the system’s relative youth compared to VIDA. SCAR is responsible for fleet investigations, analysis, and batch vehicle and vehicle data through OTA software updates to customers. SCAR also serves as a key contact in the aftermarket for OTA deployments. OTA Deployment support is provided by monitoring and mitigating customer impact, identifying issues through initial analysis, and facilitating handover to R&D for problem resolution. A Power BI dashboard is utilized for visualization of progress in deployment jobs.

Additionally, the responsibility includes complete maintenance of SPs, as well as ensuring that customer vehicles are supported by the SSS in the aftermarket. The team also has responsibility for certain test support of SPs and SSS from an aftermarket perspective. SCAR collaborates closely with product development (R&D), Spare Parts, Quality-team (CMQ), OTA-team, and internal system applications (e.g., KDP, PULS, PIE, PGW, REFLECT).

Job Description:

• Ensure availability of Software Products (SP) and Software System Structure (SSS) in aftermarket systems.
• Provide cross-functional support within the organization related to software download in the aftermarket, primarily within enabling SP purchase and complete SSS for vehicles, as well as OTA Deployments.
• Verify SP and SSS to ensure software download in vehicles using VIDA and OTA in the aftermarket.
• Engage highly with customer issues in the aftermarket related to SP, SSS, and OTA Deployments, using a solution-oriented approach with a high sense of service, quality, and short lead time as guidelines.
• Support and be involved in the internal system development of relevant systems utilized within the SCAR team (e.g., VIDA, PGW, REFLECT, KDP, PIE, PULS).

Task Description:

• Release SP and SSS in aftermarket system PIE based on request and cadence.
• Support OTA Deployments: create VIN collections and deployment jobs, as well as analyze failures related to OTA Deployments.
• Support in the aftermarket if customer issues related to SP, SSS, or OTA Deployments arise.
• Support product development (R&D) and software responsible when creating SP, recipe, and SSS.
• Check SSS during car project or Vehicle Update Software (VUSW) and attend at CRB.
• Maintain SPs and register SPs in SPE/PULS.
• Provide internal software support if requested within the organization (e.g., TSS, integration, CMQ, OTA Deployments).
• Verify SSS and vehicle conversion for internal aftermarket testing to TSS as well as for Co-Development (CoDev) vehicles.
• Support with education if requested, related to SP, SSS, and OTA Deployments in the aftermarket, as well as a high-level description of software download flow in the aftermarket.
