Assignment Description

Our client in the automotive industry is currently seeking a Senior SRE (Java + Github). In this role, you will focus on the development of the platform core and common platform services. Your responsibilities will include solving complex problems related to cloud infrastructure automation, multi-region networking, authentication/authorization, and logging/metrics collection at scale. You will also be tasked with providing tooling and frameworks for engineering teams to enable transaction tracing, performance analysis, business monitoring, and alerting.

Responsibilities:

• Lead/contribute to engineering efforts from design to implementation, tackling complex technical challenges related to monitoring distributed systems at scale.
• Drive the roadmap for the Observability platforms in collaboration with cross-functional partners, serving as a key connector in this vital and highly visible role.
• Build, lead, and mentor an Observability team, fostering an environment of teamwork, trust, and mutual success.
• Participate in deep technical design discussions within your team and across partner teams, ensuring alignment on building the right systems.
• Drive adoption of best practices in monitoring, alerting, and performance.
• Collaborate closely with development teams to implement monitoring and observability instrumentation within their platforms.
• Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation for Monitoring & Observability services.
• Utilize containerization and container orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent work experience.
• Previous experience delivering Observability at scale is required.
• Working knowledge of Kubernetes.
• Experience with distributed systems development, including asynchronous communication patterns, consensus algorithms, and distributed transactions.
• Strong programming skills in Java and Typescript.
• Experience working with Linux systems.
• Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CDK, Pulumi, or CloudFormation.
