Assignment Description

Our client in the automotive industry is currently seeking a Senior Power Electronics Design Engineer.

Responsibilities:

• Design traction inverters, focusing on the power channels and the DC to AC conversion stack.
• Define and optimize solutions that best fulfill their requirements, select and size the necessary technologies and components, and perform testing activities including fault tracing, bring-up, functional testing, and reliability verification.
• Be involved in the concept and architecture definition and be responsible for tracking cutting-edge technologies in power electronics, benchmarking alternatives to ensure the best solution in terms of performance, cost, and reliability.
• Coach and serve as a reference for younger engineers by sharing knowledge and experience, and contribute to the technology roadmap for your focus area.
• Prepare and gather design documentation, such as schematics, design descriptions, design reviews, and design guidelines.

Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Electronics Engineering or a related electrical engineering field, with a specialization in power electronics.
• At least 10 years of experience in power electronics design within industrial applications, preferably in the automotive sector.
• Excellent knowledge of power semiconductors and gate drivers, as well as passive components design and selection.
• Experience in power modules dimensioning, selection, and validation. Previous experience in Power Module Packaging will be strongly considered.
• Basic knowledge of Power Electronics Reliability.
• Good understanding of EMC and extensive laboratory experience, with the ability to lead development tests and the bring-up of inverter power channels.
• Ability to guide PCB layout engineers and familiarity with design and simulation tools such as Matlab, Simulink, PLECS, PSpice, Altium, ANSYS, etc.
• Knowledge in worst-case circuit analysis, failure mechanisms, and reliability in power electronics is considered an advantage.
