Assignment Description

Our client in the Maps Developer Platform team is looking for technically minded and communicative software engineers to contribute to our popular Maps Developer products. MapKit powers experiences across platforms, including Native, the Web and Android. As a member of this team, you will build new APIs and tools powering the Maps Developer experience. You will take new features from ideation, through design and implementation, all the way to announcing them at our client’s Developer Conference. You will partner directly with a wide range of clients to build highly impactful mapping solutions.

Main day to day activities

  • Eliciting requirements from our clients and translating them into scalable, reliable code
  • Designing APIs enabling developers both inside and outside of our client to build mapping features into their apps
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with Human Interaction Design, Services, and other Engineering and Data teams
  • Developing, launching, and maintaining cross-platform features that integrate Maps with the ecosystem
  • Working with QA (and sometimes bootstrapping them) by developing and maintaining test tools and test cases

 

Key Qualifications

  • 6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
  • Ability to explain complex problems clearly and succinctly
  • Passion to collaborate and iterate on ideas on a cross-functional team
  • A keen eye for software design and architecture
  • Expected to be proficient in either Swedish or English
  • Onsite presence required at the Malmö/Hyllie office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
    Remote work is possible on Mondays and Fridays.

 

Web (MapKit JS)
Responsible for MapKit APIs on the web.

  • Proficient in functional programming style. Languages: modern JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS
  • CI/CD: Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (Docker)

 

Additional Skills

  • API Design: Designing and building public APIs
  • Rendering experience: Computer Graphics APIs, e.g. OpenGL, Metal, WebGL
  • Technical writing: Contributing to or authoring developer documentation
