The EDS Uni & Floor harness team is part of the broader Electrical Infrastructure Department. This team is responsible for the mechanical design and development of a vehicle’s electrical nervous system—specifically Uni & Floor harnesses. As the ideal candidate for this position, you will have the opportunity to play a key role in the company’s success in this area. You’ll also gain hands-on experience with the tools, methods, and processes necessary for creating wiring harnesses that support the implementation of electrical vehicle features. Beyond increasing your technical expertise, you’ll have the chance to expand your industry network.

Main Responsibilities

As a Wiring Harness Design Engineer, you will:

  • Define and develop future galvanic electrical structures for the company.
  • Focus on the design and development of harnesses within the Cabin area.
  • Mechanically route and physically connect electrical components using wiring bundles.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical performance, EMC, and quality standards.
  • Work on designs that are manufacturable by suppliers and easily assembled in vehicle assembly plants.
  • Develop virtual harness models and create corresponding 2D/3D drawings for specification.
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure top-quality harnesses are produced based on your designs.
  • Verify harnesses to ensure robust functionality.
  • Collaborate with a highly effective team, contributing to continuous development and finding new ways of working to remain industry leaders.

In addition, you will:

  • Lead and drive the design and development of wiring harnesses.
  • Conduct investigations and verification of harnesses to meet reliability, cost, and performance goals.
  • Contribute to team efforts in developing cross-platform solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in the design and mechanical installation of wiring harnesses, materials used in electrical distribution systems, and vehicle functions supported by specific harnesses.
  • Competence in delivering major or complex development tasks, including harness design, in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Extensive experience with the following software tools: Catia V5 (including Electrical Workbench), 3DPMI, Capital Design, TCe and TC Vis, System Weaver or Car Weaver, EiDB, KDP and PCT.
  • Familiar with VPDS framework and release processes, ensuring smooth product flow and delivery.
  • Degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (BS or MS) or equivalent technical education in relevant fields such as Mechatronics, or experience of similar competency level.

Additional Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) principles and their application in harness design.
  • Understanding of electrical performance, system design, and related complexity management.
  • Experience with Routing Quality Assessment (RQA), FMEA, and validation processes for electrical systems.
  • Skilled in Continuous Integration practices, test object builds (bench, riggs, prototype cars, etc.), and working in agile environments focused on ongoing improvements.

  • Ability to organize and lead teams, coaching team members, and working effectively across various functions and with external stakeholders.
  • Capable of acting as a tutor or mentor in areas of technical expertise, sharing knowledge and guiding team development.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, both within the team and with external suppliers or partners.
  • Fluency in English; Swedish proficiency is an advantage.
  • Possession of a B driving license is meritorious.
