Assignment Description
Our client in the automotive industry is currently seeking a System Safety Leader. The role involves creating, fostering, and sustaining system safety processes, methods, tools, and training within their global Engineering organization. You will ensure conformance with ISO 26262 & ISO 21448 standards and provide expert support to various teams regarding system safety processes. Additionally, you will conduct confirmation reviews of system safety work products.
As part of the System Safety Competence Center (SSCC), you will work alongside a team of System Safety Leaders (SSLs) to achieve long-term goals, ensuring the client’s capability to deliver safe products within the system safety domain. The scope includes Functional Safety (FuSa) and Safety of the Intended Functionality (SOTIF), both essential to developing safe vehicles.
- Functional Safety focuses on handling safety issues caused by systematic and random faults in electrical/electronic hardware and software.
- SOTIF focuses on achieving safe functional behavior, addressing nominal performance, and technical limitations in electrical/electronic hardware and software.
Main Responsibilities:
- Drive the implementation of ISO 26262 & ISO 21448 system safety processes across the organization.
- Develop and maintain system safety methods, tools, and best practices.
- Conduct awareness and training sessions to enhance the organization’s understanding of system safety, principles, standards, and methodologies.
- Provide expert support and guidance on system safety processes to various departments, including engineers and managers.
- Perform confirmation reviews of system safety work products to ensure compliance with ISO 26262.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate safety processes into product development.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and advancements in system safety and international standards.
- Foster a strong System Safety Culture within the Engineering team by sharing experiences in the internal Community of Practice.
Qualifications:
- M.Sc. in Controls and Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronic, or Computer Science Engineering (advanced degree preferred).
- Strong knowledge of relevant technical domains (e.g., brake systems, steering systems).
- Expertise in systems engineering, including embedded SW/HW in the automotive domain.
- Deep understanding of system safety engineering practices, safety standards, and product safety.
- Extensive knowledge of automotive system safety standards, particularly ISO 26262 and ISO 21448.
- Experience with risk assessment and analysis methodologies: HARA, FTA, FMEDA, and FMEA.
- Proficiency in methods, tools, and processes for Functional Safety and SOTIF.
- Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
