Assignment description
We are looking for a Senior Accounting Specialist who will establish and maintain accounting policies and controls, fiscal controls, prepare financial reports and safeguarding the organization’s assets. Responsibilities are within the Accounting Function as a generalist or in a combination of Disciplines.
Our customer needs a person who actively seeks challenging assignments and is genuinely excited by a challenge and solves complex problems with little or no support from their supervisor; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
Your responsibilities will be to:
- Research and analyze account fluctuations
- Review, prepare and input accrual, standard, recurring, re-classification and other journal entries
- Review and respond to all escalated customer inquiries and inputs and post re-classification and other needed entries
- Respond to internal and external audit requests
- Close the books for legal entities within the company
- Evaluate the monthly capitalization and depreciation of fixed assets
- Guide the maintenance of assets for transfers, retirements and re-categorizations
- Calibrate quarterly roll-forward for fixed assets and cash flow
- Provide expertise and guidance for monthly project allocations
- Implement the tracking of capital projects by financial liaison
- Analyze complex data and review processes to make enhancements or improve performance
- Remain current about and implementing accounting principles and trends
- Update and maintain accounting policies and procedures
Requirements
This role requires a Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline and 8-10 years work experience within the field. This includes proficient expertise in the use of financial systems, Microsoft Excel and other NASDAQ OMX supported applications, applying templates and standards to produce elements and incorporate them into presentations.
As for business expertise you have a good or in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others and chooses to work across these boundaries to further the greater agenda. You are aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market and understands the commercial or business decision takes priority over the preferences of the individual.
When it comes to technical skills you should be used to applying NASDAQ OMX’s financial and management accounting policies, procedures and systems. Maintaining current knowledge of the accounting principles for one or more disciplines (e.g., GAAP, Cost Accounting, Tax Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Billing). You should also know how to analyze and apply regulatory requirements and financial accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, FASB, SEC) to complex or non-routine scenarios.
For this assignment you will also act as mentor/coach for less experienced peers, therefore you should be able to explain difficult or sensitive information in a diplomatic way, and proactively share experiences and knowledge towards the achievement of team objectives. As well as impact team morale and culture through your actions and words.
