We’re looking for a Taxonomist.

The Platform team creates the technology that enables the client to learn quickly and scale easily, enabling rapid growth in our users and our business around the globe. Spanning many disciplines, we work to make the business work; creating the frameworks, capabilities and tools needed to welcome a billion customers.

You’ll help bring coherence to our client’s experience and accuracy to classification by applying your expertise in information structures. This is a role that will collaborate closely with partners in Editorial, Engineering, Product Management, Editorial Systems Platform and beyond. This role helps ensure discovery is effective, safe, culturally relevant and enjoyable for our users.

Tasks:

• Evolve and maintain taxonomies
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and coordinate alignment with stakeholders
• Design models that represent specialized knowledge and points of view, with the flexibility to cover a growing set of global contexts and content domains
• Maintain mappings between datasets
• Participate in cross-funcitonal groups for governing change

Qualifications: 

• You have a degree in library or information science
• You have experience developing taxonomies
• You have background in media
• You have experience using book publishing industry schemas (BISAC, Thema)
• You have familiarity with taxonomy management platforms using standards (RDF)
• You are comfortable working with distributed teams across multiple timezones
